My heart broke along with Taani’s when her fiance and brother died, when she realized she would have to leave her husband to be happy, when she realized that it was her husband she loved.Īs Bollywood films go, this one is fairly low-key. I lived and died with every flux of emotion in Suri–I felt his love, his pain, his joy in Taani’s laughter, his despair in her imminent betrayal. I didn’t get a chance to watch it until later the next day, but once I did, I couldn’t stop. I couldn’t wait for the full video to finish unfortunately for me, it was already 4am by that point, so I had to give in and go to bed. I couldn’t tear my eyes away, and I literally screamed when the preview ended. I made the mistake of previewing the video while it was still downloading, and the only part available was the beginning. Within the first 10 minutes, though, I was hooked. I had no real expectations for this film when I downloaded it, other than that I’ve always loved Shah Rukh Khan–he can be a bit of a ham, but he’s never boring to watch. Suri has returned to his old self, and the only sign that Raj ever existed is that Suri is a little more fun-loving and Taani smiles constantly. Ī photo montage during the credits shows Suri and Taani on their honeymoon in Japan (he’d won tickets earlier in the film), smiling and laughing together, and generally having a great time.

My favourite track from this film, and the one I dance to when no one’s looking. The others were just letting it run while I was typing.) Song of the Day (The first time was so I could write down the plot. Still, it was thoroughly enjoyable, so much so that I didn’t mind rewatching it three or four times while writing this recap. That isn’t to say that this film is a work of art or a masterpieces. (Not bad writing, though–even I can’t forgive that.) I’m not qualified to comment on the plot, though, because it’s a well-established fact that if something manages to strike the right chord in my romantic’s heart, I’ll love it in spite of mediocre writing. Gorgeous colours, gorgeous actors, gorgeous scenery, gorgeous music. Runtime: 167 minutes (2 hours 44 minutes) Cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma, Vinay Pathak
